SE TACE Technical Assistance & Continuing Education

TACE supports vocational rehabilitation professionals through two primary functions: technical assistance and continuing education. Technical Assistance involves customized consultation, facilitation and related activities; examples include strategic planning, resource alignment and curriculum development. Continuing Education involves training in professional development areas, some of which are required to maintain professional credentials; examples include comprehensive assessment, caseload management and ethics. Both forms of support may be delivered either via distance learning or on-site modalities.

BBI Southeast Business Series Promotes VR-Business Alliances

BBI Southeast, a partnership between TACE and the Southeast ADA Center, recently hosted a webinar for businesses on Establishing Linkages to Promote the Recruitment and Hiring of Candidates with Disabilities. The presentation promoted the establishment of ongoing relationships between human resource professionals and vocational rehabilitation programs in order to advance hiring and recruitment of jobseekers with disabilities. It was very well-received and the archive can be accessed here. This event will be followed by three more webinars in the Webinar Series for Business.

Distance Learning

TACE provides its services through both distance learning and on-site modalities. Distance learning consists of a variety of delivery methods that can be used alone or in combination, including webinars, live streaming, online curricula and toolkits, conference calls, newsletters and email. Distance learning is capable of reaching wide audiences at a modest cost. Users must have access to internet and/or phone to take advantage of most of these resources.

Typical distance learning offerings might include:

  • Single topical webinar such as “Recruitment & Retention of Individuals with Disabilities and Multicultural Backgrounds into the Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Profession”
  • Webinar series such as the four-part “Ex-offender Webinar Series”
  • Learning series such as the recent learning series on “Improving Outcomes for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)” combining multiple webinars with discussion groups and project assignments.

TACE distance learning opportunities are listed on this website under Events. They can be viewed by date or or by topic/condition

On-Site Services

TACE provides its services through both on-site and distance learning modalities. On-site services are delivered in person and include customized training, group facilitation and conference presentations. This modality is best suited for individualized services to meet the specific needs of a select audience.

Typical on-site offerings might include:

  • Continuing education training on Case Management for VRCs in one area of a state.
  • Facilitation of one state’s Innovations project team meetings to negotiate agreements or coordinate implementation of project tasks.
  • Presentation at a state, regional or national conference on practices or experiences in or relevant to vocational rehabilitation in the southeast region.
